Sri Lanka Map

When you first open a pouch of Sri Lanka vanilla beans, your nose will be met with bold, earthy notes of vanilla softened by a hit of dates and raisins. Behind the vanilla, you will pick up a cocoa scent that is reminiscent of a chocolate-rich mocha. As you bring an individual bean closer to your nose, the strong, earthy vanilla aroma becomes more pronounced and complimented with soft and subtile fruity undertones. Finally, after months (or even years) of extraction, your finished extract will demonstrate a bold and pronounced vanilla aroma with enhanced vanilla sweetness with a hint of chocolate that is underscored with subtile scents of dates and dried fruit. You will also tease out the notes of Sri Lanka's famous Silver Tips & Black Tea, as these beans are grown in the same region where those teas are harvested. They are truly a unique and elegant vanilla experience.

Sri Lanka vanilla beans are very oily and rich with vanillin. They are ideal for the most basic creations like cookies and brownies for a slight kick of added sweetness. They are usually between 5" and 7" inches long and have a dark brown color. They are quite frequently the choice of chef's for their rare complexity of flavors and applications. For at home extracting, they pair best with vodka, dark rums, brandy and cognac.

VanillaPura vanilla beans are all shipped vacuum sealed for freshness and should be stored unrefrigerated in a cool, dry and dark place.

These hard-to-procure planifolia vanilla beans are grown in and around Sri Lankan tea plantations and rainforests. Even in Sri Lanka, they are noted as a rare and a prized crop.

On average, there are 6-10 beans/oz depending on the moisture content of the specific batch of vanilla beans. There can be as few as 5 beans or as many as 20 beans. Pricing reflects current market conditions and will be updated as market prices change.

Sri Lanka beans

Very soft and oh my goodness the smell. I have a few months before I can taste! Ugh the wait! I have all my vanilla extract "cooking" from your book. The ginger spice turned out beautiful. Waiting on my Hawaiian beans to get my last recipe completed.

Excellent

These Beans had a nice chocolate aroma when I opened them followed by a nice scent of dates!! . They were plump and juicy, nicely filled with caviar. This is going to make a nice and hearty extract I believe.

Beautiful

The Sri Lanka beans were very nice. I didn't get the scent of cocoa, but did smell dates. Also, perhaps a faint licorice smell. They made a nice sugar, and the extract is coming along beautifully.
