We are excited to introduce our first-ever vanilla bean from southern India. This bean is named after the city of Malabar, which is a beautiful Southern beach city on the South Western side of India.
VanillaPura's Malabar India Vanilla Beans are of the highest quality. They are plump, dark, rich in oils and have a bold traditional vanilla aroma and taste when used in your extracts. Virtually any spirit will do when making vanilla extracts with this exquisite vanilla bean, with a special emphasis on dark rum, as these beans have a naturally "rummy" taste and aroma reminiscent of molasses.
When you first open a pouch of Malabar India vanilla beans, your nose will be met with traditional vanilla notes that are magnified by its earthy richness. This is a powerful vanilla aroma and taste that is sure to add enhanced sweetness to your favorite pastries and desserts. If you are familiar with dark rums, this vanilla bean captures some of the elegance of a fine, aged rum including sweet notes of molasses.

After months (or even years) of extraction, your finished Malabar India extract will demonstrate a bold, earthy and rich vanilla aroma with concentrated vanilla sweetness.
These vanilla beans are very oily and rich with vanillin. They are usually between 5" and 7" inches long and have a dark brown color.
VanillaPura vanilla beans are all shipped vacuum sealed for freshness and should be stored unrefrigerated in a cool, dry and dark place.
On average, there are 5-8 beans/oz depending on the moisture content of the specific batch of vanilla beans. There can be as few as 5 beans or as many as 20 beans. Pricing reflects current market conditions and will be updated as market prices change.
