The beautiful and very popular V.planifolia orchid is our July orchid. Originating in southern Mexico, this is "The" vanilla that was used by the Totonacs and Aztecs of Veracruz Mexico and brought back to Europe by Cortez. It's the vanilla orchid that led Edmund Albius to his famous discovery of hand pollination that is still in use today. It's vanilla bean is traditional, classic - the "ideal" family of characteristics within all families and species of vanilla. It loves to be loved and rewards its keeper with beautiful vanilla beans. Its beautiful orchid is delicate, reaching always for the sun with soft green petals and small hints of yellow.
