These apple nut scones are screaming for a chilly Autumn weekend. They are made easily with ingredients you probably already have on hand. Serve them warm with an extra drizzle of vanilla glaze. Don't forget to enjoy them with your favorite coffee or tea!

Ingredients
For The Scones:
- 2 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
- 1 Granny Smith apple, chopped into small pieces
- 1/2 cup of your favorite chopped nuts (Pecans and pistachios are lovely)
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2-3 Tablespoons sugar
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 2 tsp of pure vanilla extract or the seeds from one vanilla bean
For the topping:
- 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla or/and seeds from a vanilla bean.
- ½ cup of powdered sugar
- 2 Tablespoons of milk
Instructions
Preheat oven to 400
For the Scones:
- Whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, soda, and salt.
- Add cold butter into flour mixture and using a pastry blender or a fork, mix until crumbly.
- Add chopped apples and nuts, stir.
- Pour in milk, and vanilla. Stir until incorporated.
- Remove from bowl and place on a flour covered surface and knead about 8 times. Form the dough into a rectangle shape.
- Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar, then cut into 8 diagonal pieces and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Place in the oven and cook for about 20 minutes or until browned.
For the topping:
- Mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla for drizzling over the scones.
